Freud famously asked the question, “What do women want?”   Of course, he only asked other men.  And he was considered one of the great thinkers of his time.  What’s up with that? 

I’m Barbara Grassey and I can answer that question. Women want MORE.  More time, more energy, more shoes, more chocolate, more sharing, more money, more power, more freedom, more EVERYTHING! 

More money?  More power?  Some people would call us ambitious, as if that’s a bad thing.  Ambition is not bad.  There’s nothing wrong with women wanting more -- as long as they’re willing to work for it. 

     And that is where

YOU HAVE BEEN SOLD A BILL OF GOODS!

For the past twenty years, women have been told to call themselves goddesses, princesses and divas.  We have worn tiaras, boas, and, on occasion, a toga or two.  (Okay, just me on the toga thing.) 

It is time to put the goddess/diva/princess mentality behind.  If you’re not ready to yet, let me ask you this: 

  How’s it working out for you so far, Princess?

The goddess culture was a quick fix designed to give women self-esteem.  But we are not goddesses or divas or princesses.  So calling ourselves those lofty titles always rang hollow.  Deep in our hearts we knew we were lying.  The only women who can get away with calling themselves princesses with any conviction are either members of a royal family or spoiled-rotten, self-delusional bitches.  Something tells me that isn’t you.

Self-esteem comes from personal accomplishment, not from putting a rhinestone tiara on your head.  The reason why you are no closer to living the life you want to lead than you were five or ten or more years ago is because you were given a quick-fix band-aid, not a long-term action plan.   

Sometimes life beats you up.  Sometimes life just gets in the way.  Sometimes we get in our own way. 

This is the place to recharge your batteries and reorganize your life so it is in alignment with your dreams.

     I am asking you today: What do you want?
